"We could not afford to lose 75mm using mineral wool on our wall. The SoundBlockerQuilt was the product for us as it only took up 50mm and performs far better."                                                                                        G. Turner

SoundBlocker Quilt is an environmentally friendly, more efficient alternative to mineral wool as the acoustic infill between floor joists and within stud partitions as part of an overall soundproofing upgrade.

More Information

Produced from recycled sheep's wool this new, acoustically more efficient soundproofing quilt incorporates a sound barrier layer sandwiched within it that helps block noise as well as absorbing it within a cavity.  Designed to replace the less efficient mineral wool usually used, this SoundBlocker Quilt is more environmentally friendly and easy to handle without the need for protective clothing or gloves.

Using naturally sustainable sheep’s wool instead of normal fiberglass, this new and superior sound absorber/barrier offers better sound proofing and is the preferred choice for installation between joists and stud when soundproofing a floor, wall or ceiling.

SoundBlocker Quilt is produced using a combination of sheep's wool and other recycled materials to create a superior sound blocking and sound absorbing product.  The mineral loaded sound barrier mat in the middle has a mass of 2kg/m˛ and it is this mass that helps reduce sound penetration and the 25mm each side of the sheep's wool adds additional sound absorption.  This combination performs up to four times more efficiently than normal mineral wool when used as the acoustic infill in cavities of ceiling joists and stud walls.

Unlike a normal acoustic infill, SoundBlocker Quilt has to be fixed into the cavity using staples or battens to seal the product and give maximum performance when soundproofing a floor, ceiling or stud wall.

The Quilt can be used to help meet Part E Resistance to the Passage of Sound when used in conjunction with other materials to create separating floors and walls making it the preferred product of architects and installers. Because it is made using much softer sheep’s wool, it is pleasant to handle and can be fitted without the need for gloves or protective clothing but if working in a confined area, dust masks should still be worn.
When used as the acoustic infill, SoundBlocker Quilt can help upgrade a typical single layer plasterboard clad stud wall by up to 16dB!

SoundBlocker Quilt can also improve the sound insulation of a suspended timber floor by up to 13dB!
